Trump may meet Kim Jong Un in demilitarized zone – Nikkei

US President Donald Trump may meet North Korean leader Kim Jong Un in the demilitarized zone between North and South Korea, Nikkei reports.
According to the publication, the US president will visit Malaysia, Japan, and South Korea before that. In the Malaysian capital Kuala Lumpur, Trump will meet with Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi to discuss the issue of purchasing Russian oil.
In Tokyo, the US president will meet with the new prime minister of Japan, who will be elected in the near future. In South Korea, a meeting with Chinese leader Xi Jinping is also possible.
Trump-Kim Jong Un meetings
During his first presidential term, Donald Trump met with Kim Jong Un three times: in Singapore in 2019, and later in Hanoi and the village of Panmunjom on the inter-Korean border in the same year.
However, at that time, significant progress in curbing North Korea's nuclear program was not achieved. In March of this year, Trump acknowledged that North Korea is a "nuclear state."
According to Axios, the US president's administration is discussing options for resuming dialogue with North Korea. Donald Trump himself said that at some point, he would meet with the North Korean leader. In September, Kim Jong Un allowed for contacts with the American side if the United States "drops the absurd obsession with denuclearising" North Korea.
