Trump launches ad blitz to try to slow Harris surge - Reuters
This week, former US President Donald Trump's campaign will launch an advertising blitz aimed at curbing the rising popularity of US Vice President Kamala Harris, reports Reuters.
The advertising campaign is reportedly valued at $10 million and will be launched in six swing states to counter the surge in voter enthusiasm and donations for Trump's opponent, Kamala Harris.
The agency notes this is Trump's largest ad purchase since January when he was vying against fellow Republicans for the party's presidential nomination.
Trump's campaign did not respond to requests for comment, but the blitz comes as Harris's candidacy shifts the dynamics of the race.
Reuters adds that after months of attacks on President Biden's fitness for office, Trump's campaign has had to pivot to find a new angle to use against the younger and more dynamic 59-year-old Harris.
Specifically, on Monday, the 78-year-old Trump posted an ad on his Truth Social platform that featured old interviews, campaign events, and debates involving Harris, attempting to portray her as an extreme liberal out of touch with ordinary Americans.
In response, Harris accused Trump's campaign of lying about her record.
Work against Trump and support for Harris
CNN reports that Iran is leveraging covert social media activity and related influence operations to undermine Donald Trump's candidacy.
The US intelligence community (ODNI) has observed Tehran's attempts to influence the presidential election and concluded that Iranian leaders likely wish to avoid a result that could escalate tensions with the US.
It was also noted that Kamala Harris raised a record $200 million in the first week of her presidential campaign. The Vice President's campaign team claimed this reflects strong support for her bid for the White House.
