Trump frustrated with war talks: Disillusioned by both Russia and Ukraine

US President Donald Trump is disappointed with both Russia and Ukraine in the negotiations to end the war. At the same time, the US believes it has "leverage" in the talks, according to White House spokeswoman Caroline Levitt during a briefing.
"I think the President has made it quite clear that he is constantly frustrated with both sides of this conflict, and he wants these hostilities to end. He wants the war to end," Levitt said.
According to her, the Trump administration believes that "we have leverage in negotiating a peace agreement." The spokeswoman emphasized that the US intends to use this leverage.
It is worth noting that Caroline Levitt's statement came amid the visit of US Special Representative Steve Vitkoff to Russia. It is known that he held five-hour negotiations with dictator Vladimir Putin.
Negotiations on the war in Ukraine
Recall that two rounds of negotiations between Ukraine and the US, as well as two rounds between US and Russian delegations, took place in Saudi Arabia. However, US Special Representative Steve Vitkoff has visited Russia several times for meetings with Putin.
The latest round took place on March 23-24. During that meeting, under US mediation, the delegations discussed the safety of civilian shipping in the Black Sea and the cessation of attacks on energy infrastructure.
Ukraine agreed to the US proposal, but Russia has yet to provide a clear response, while still putting forward its demands.
Earlier, US Secretary of State Marco Rubio emphasized that Washington does not want negotiations without progress and hinted at sanctions against Russia if it does not take steps toward peace.
US President Donald Trump also stated that Russia must "get moving" toward ending the war.
