US President Donald Trump wants European leaders to pressure Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy to accept the US peace plan, The Wall Street Journal reports.

According to the outlet, on December 10, Trump held a tense phone call with German Chancellor Friedrich Merz, French President Emmanuel Macron, and British Prime Minister Keir Starmer.

WSJ writes that Trump allegedly told the leaders of Germany, France, and the UK that they should insist Zelenskyy accept the terms of the US peace plan, which includes significant territorial concessions by Ukraine and limits on the size of its military.

The US President also reiterated his criticism that Zelenskyy had not reviewed the previous US peace plan and had not indicated a willingness to reconsider the terms proposed by Washington.

US peace plan

Originally, the US peace plan consisted of 28 points. Some of them were openly pro-Russian, involving major concessions by Ukraine - withdrawal of troops from Donetsk and Luhansk regions, reduction of the army size, renunciation of NATO membership, and more.

This plan was unacceptable not only to Ukraine but also to Europe. In particular, German Foreign Minister Johann Wadephul said today that he had been in contact with US officials regarding adjustments to the plan.

Amid the development of the peace plan, the Ukrainian and US negotiation teams held several meetings in Switzerland and the United States.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said that the outcome of this dialogue was a 20-point plan - the original US peace plan was effectively reduced.

Also on December 10, it became known that national security advisors from Ukraine, France, Germany, and the UK had developed and submitted to the US their vision of the American peace plan.
