US President Donald Trump may allow the supply of long-range JASSM missiles to Ukraine. This possibility is currently under consideration, Military Watch Magazine reports.

The information that Trump is considering the possibility of supplying such missiles to Ukraine was revealed to the outlet by an unnamed source.

Military Watch Magazine clarifies that rumors about a potential JASSM delivery emerged amid claims by two other unnamed sources that Washington is considering sending an unspecified class of long-range missiles capable of striking targets deep inside Russia.

It is expected that JASSM missiles could enhance Ukraine’s F-16s, as the aircraft would serve as launch platforms. Launches could reportedly be carried out from well behind the front line.

JASSM missiles

The American JASSM (Joint Air-to-Surface Standoff Missile) is a high-precision, long-range cruise missile designed to strike well-protected ground targets without entering enemy air defense zones.

These missiles are launched from fighter jets and bombers, including the F-16, F-15, B-1B, B-2, and others. They are capable of accurately hitting targets at distances of up to 370 km in the standard version and over 900 km in the JASSM-ER variant.

JASSM missiles feature a low-observable airframe and a guidance system that combines GPS and infrared targeting. This allows the missile to effectively bypass air defenses and strike fortified targets such as command centers, ammunition depots, airfields, or radar installations.

Notably, rumors about the US planning to provide Ukraine with JASSM missiles were already circulating in the media as early as August of last year, citing unnamed sources, when Joe Biden was serving as US president. However, Ukraine has yet to receive this type of weaponry.
