Trump considering massive new aid package for Ukraine – Politico

President Donald Trump is considering a new military aid package for Ukraine worth hundreds of millions of dollars, according to Politico.
Sources familiar with the matter say the discussions took place just over a week after the Pentagon suddenly halted part of an existing aid package that included thousands of artillery shells and precision-guided munitions. Trump has promised that the aid will be resumed.
The funding for the new aid package is expected to come from a pool that allows the Pentagon to draw weapons from US military stockpiles for Ukraine. That fund still holds approximately $3.8 billion.
Notably, Trump teased a major announcement regarding Russia but did not clarify what it would be about.
“You’ll be seeing things happen,” he said after Russia struck near a maternity hospital in Kharkiv.
Neither the White House nor the Pentagon responded to reporters' requests for comment on the aid package.
The aid package to Ukraine, the delivery of which was suspended earlier this month, included Patriot air defense systems and hundreds of units of precision weaponry that Ukraine uses for both offensive and defensive operations.
Suspension of military aid to Ukraine
Last week, the US temporarily halted the delivery of certain types of weapons to Ukraine. According to the White House, the decision was linked to an inventory check of stockpiles.
Later, US President Donald Trump announced a decision to resume aid to Ukraine. He stated that Russian President Vladimir Putin is responsible for numerous killings.
According to media reports, the decision to suspend arms deliveries to Ukraine was made by Pentagon chief Pete Hegseth without informing either Trump or Congress.
Trump’s allies in the Senate demanded an investigation into the actions of the US Secretary of Defense, pointing out that Hegseth acted without the president's approval.
Meanwhile, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said that work with partners continues to strengthen the country’s defense capabilities. He noted that active efforts are underway to secure new weapons deliveries, increase arms production in Ukraine, and better equip the Ukrainian army.
