US President Donald Trump confirmed that American forces have seized a Venezuelan tanker. Further actions against Venezuela are coming soon, said Trump during a press briefing.
"It's been an interesting day from the standpoint of news," Trump said.
According to him, the tanker was seized off the coast of Venezuela. He also hinted at "other things," referring to measures against the regime of Nicolás Maduro.
"We've just seized a tanker off the coast of Venezuela — large tanker, very large, largest one ever seized, actually. And other things are happening. So you'll be seeing that later, and you’ll be talking about that later with some other people," the US President said in response to reporters' questions.
Earlier, media reports stated that on December 10, 2025, US forces intercepted and took control of an oil tanker under sanctions near Venezuelan waters.
The seizure comes amid a significant escalation of pressure by the US administration on Venezuelan leader Nicolás Maduro, accusing him of controlling a major drug trafficking operation.
Reports suggest that Maduro is even willing to resign, but not for at least 18 months. The White House, however, insists that he step down from the Venezuelan leadership immediately.
