Trump confirms that he will declare a national emergency at US-Mexico border
A national emergency will be declared at the US-Mexico border. President Donald Trump will sign the corresponding decree, according to Trump's speech.
"Today I will sign a series of historic executive orders. We will begin the complete restoration of America and revolution of common sense. First, I will declare national emergency at the south border," Trump said.
He specified that all illegal crossings at the border will be closed.
Additionally, according to Trump, the US will begin the process of returning millions of criminals to the countries they came from. The Remain in Mexico program will also be reinstated, under which people seeking asylum in the US will have to wait for entry approval in Mexico.
The US president also promised to send American troops to the southern border to stop the invasion. At the same time, cartels will be designated as international terrorist organizations.
