Trump claims destruction of key military targets in Iran

President of the United States Donald Trump said the American military carried out new successful strikes on important targets in Iran, the US president reports.
"Big day (today – ed.) in Iran. Many long-sought-after targets have been taken out and destroyed by our great military, the finest and most lethal in the world," Trump said.
Trump did not specify which exact military targets were meant or what weapons were used by the Americans to destroy them.
What is known about war in the Middle East
According to WSJ, Donald Trump recently told his associates that he wants to avoid a prolonged war in Iran and hopes to end the conflict in the coming weeks.
At the same time, in recent days, the US deployed an amphibious assault ship and 3,500 Marines to the Middle East, and media reports that the Pentagon is considering sending another 10,000 troops. According to WP, the US is preparing for possible ground operations in Iran that could last several weeks.
US Vice President JD Vance said the operation against Iran will continue for some time and aims to neutralize Tehran for a long period.
In addition, the Financial Times, citing experts, wrote that Iran has significantly reduced the intensity of missile and drone attacks, switching to a survival strategy.
