Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump claimed that representatives of law enforcement had visited areas around polling stations in Philadelphia and Detroit. However, local authorities have denied these allegations, rejecting the idea of increased police activity in those areas, reports CNN.

According to Detroit Election Department spokesperson Matt Friedman, they are unaware of any police presence in the city during the elections, other than what was mentioned at last Thursday's press conference and widely reported across the country.

A representative from Detroit's mayor's office also stated that they don't know what Trump meant in his post on Truth Social: "Philadelphia and Detroit! Heavy Law Enforcement is there!!!"

Daniel Baxter, Detroit's chief operating officer for absentee voting and special projects, told the media that nothing has changed regarding police presence and planning measures at the main absentee ballot counting center in Huntington Place downtown.

Last week, Baxter informed journalists that Detroit has developed and maintains a comprehensive security plan in partnership with local and federal law enforcement agencies as early voting and vote counting began.

This statement followed Trump's earlier post, where he falsely claimed that massive fraud was occurring in Philadelphia.

At the time, a bipartisan group of Philadelphia officials had already rejected Trump's allegations as baseless.

US election and increased security measures

Earlier reports indicated that, in response to the US presidential election, Washington and over 20 states are deploying military personnel to protect election commissions and government buildings from potential protests and violent unrest from Trump supporters following the election.

Additionally, in Washington, police have been erecting tall fencing around the White House, the Capitol, and the residence of Vice President Kamala Harris.
