Trump assassination attempt exposes US Secret Service failures

The US Secret Service made a series of mistakes that led to the assassination attempt on President Donald Trump in Butler, Pennsylvania, during the 2024 election campaign, according to The Independent.
The US Government Accountability Office prepared a report on the Secret Service’s failure at the request of Republican Senator Chuck Grassley from Iowa. He stated that the July 13, 2024, attempt on Trump’s life was the result of a series of poor decisions and bureaucratic delays.
According to the report, the Secret Service failed to implement security measures that could have prevented the attack.
The report noted that there were serious communication failures within the agency, and there were no specific instructions for agents during the election campaign rally.
“The Secret Service’s failure on July 13th was the culmination of years of mismanagement and came after the Biden administration denied requests for enhanced security to protect President Trump. Americans should be grateful that President Trump survived that day and was ultimately reelected to restore common sense to our country,” Grassley said.
The report also highlighted that during the rally, many Secret Service agents experienced problems with communication on their mobile devices, which may have hindered effective coordination.
