US President Donald Trump said that after talks with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and representatives of Hezbollah, the parties agreed to stop hostilities, according to Trump’s post on Truth Social.

According to the US president, he held a phone call with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, after which a decision was made not to deploy Israeli troops to Beirut.

"I had a very productive call with Prime Minister Bibi Netanyahu, of Israel, and there will be no Troops going to Beirut, and any Troops that are on their way, have already been turned back," Trump wrote.

The US president also reported contacts through intermediaries with representatives of Hezbollah.

According to him, the parties agreed to stop mutual attacks.

"Likewise, through highly placed Representatives, I had a very good call with Hezbollah, and they agreed that all shooting will stop — That Israel will not attack them, and they will not attack Israel," the US leader said.

Iran had previously demanded de-escalation in Lebanon as a condition for continuing negotiations with Washington.

At the same time, Israeli Defense Minister Israel Katz clarified that in Jerusalem, the agreement is seen as a deterrence mechanism rather than a renunciation of a military response.

"Trump has adopted the equation we established, according to which firing at our communities means bombings in Beirut. That is the meaning of his statement," Katz emphasized.

US-Iran talks

Earlier, Iran suspended talks with the US due to an escalation of hostilities in Lebanon. Tehran stated it would not return to dialogue until Israeli military operations in the region stop.

Meanwhile, Trump said that Iran had not officially informed Washington about the suspension of the negotiation process. He also stressed that the US does not intend to move toward a new large-scale military escalation.

Later, the US president said that talks with Iran are continuing "at a fast pace," but he did not disclose details of any possible agreements between the parties.
