Trump and Harris see Pennsylvania as main battleground for US presidency - Bloomberg
Pennsylvania is emerging as the primary battleground in the race for the White House. Kamala Harris and Donald Trump are increasingly focusing their attention and resources on this state, reports Bloomberg.
According to Bloomberg, in recent weeks, Pennsylvania - the most populous of the battleground states with 19 electoral votes - has repeatedly attracted visits from presidential candidates of both the Democratic and Republican parties.
The candidates' focus on Pennsylvania as a more critical state than other key regions highlights its significance. In 2016, a fierce contest took place here, with Trump winning by a narrow margin of less than three-quarters of a percentage point. The tension persisted in 2020, when the current US President Joe Biden also won by a slim margin.
The race in Pennsylvania serves as a microcosm of the entire presidential campaign. Trump and Harris are actively working in the state, addressing issues related to economic hardships caused by high prices, as well as concerns about jobs and wages. They are particularly focused on workers in western Pennsylvania. Both candidates are also targeting independent voters and suburban residents around Philadelphia.
Bloomberg added that the state's significance will increase further on Tuesday when Philadelphia hosts what may be the only debate between Harris and Trump.
Additionally, ABC, the network hosting the debate between Trump and Harris, recently finalized the debate rules.
