ABC News approves final debate rules for Trump and Harris
Next Tuesday, September 10, the first debate between US presidential candidates Donald Trump and Kamala Harris will take place. ABC News has finalized the rules for the debate, according to ABC News.
David Muir, anchor and managing editor of "World News Tonight," and Linsey Davis, host of "Prime" on ABC News Live, will serve as moderators.
This will be the first debate between Democratic candidate Harris and her Republican opponent, Trump. The debate will be held in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, at the National Constitution Center and will not include an audience. The debate will last for 90 minutes with two commercial breaks.
Debate rules
Questions will be posed to the candidates exclusively by the moderators. The microphone will be on only for the candidate currently speaking.
There will be no opening statements, and each candidate will have two minutes for closing remarks.
Additionally, the response time for each question will be limited to two minutes, with an additional two minutes allocated for rebuttals and another minute for clarifications or further responses.
Trump and Harris will remain at their podiums throughout the debate. No props or pre-written notes will be allowed on stage. Each candidate will be provided with a pen, notepad, and a bottle of water.
Campaign staff are not permitted to interact with the candidates during the event, including during commercial breaks.

A virtual coin toss conducted on Tuesday determined the podium positions and the order of the closing statements. Trump won the toss and chose the order.
The former President will deliver the final closing statement, while Vice President Harris chose the right position on the podium, which is to the left on stage.
