Trump administration ready to impose sanctions on Iran

The administration of US President Donald Trump is prepared to impose sanctions on Iran, specifically targeting its oil production, states US Energy Secretary Chris Wright.
"When he was president last time, Iranian oil exports shrunk down to very modest levels," Wright said.
He added that former White House head Joe Biden did not lift the sanctions but stopped enforcing them. This, in turn, enriched Iran and led to a series of other consequences. Trump, on the contrary, seeks to stop the chaos, so the U.S. may impose sanctions.
"Biden didn’t remove those sanctions, but he stopped enforcing them. That enriched Iran. And now we’ve seen what’s happened with the Houthis, Hezbollah and Hamas. It’s been mayhem. So is President Trump looking to stop the mayhem and bring peace to the world? Absolutely. Can we afford the squeezing off of Iranian oil exports? Absolutely," the minister concluded during the interview.
Recently, it became known that US President Donald Trump wants to negotiate a nuclear deal with Iran to prevent the emergence of another nuclear weapon. He has reportedly sent a letter to the country's leader proposing such talks.
