Administration of US President Donald Trump, in a new counterterrorism strategy, accused Europe of being an "incubator" of terrorism fueled by mass migration, The Guardian reports.

In strategy, drug cartels in North and South America were named the main target and center of efforts in the fight against terrorism. However, the harshest wording still concerns Europe.

"It is clear to all that well-organized hostile groups exploit open borders and related globalist ideals. The more these alien cultures grow, and the longer current European policies persist, the more terrorism is guaranteed," the document states.

It is noted that European countries remain "preeminent and long-term counterterrorism partners" for the US. However, "Europe is greatly threatened and is both a terror target and an incubator of terror threats."

It is emphasized that uncontrolled mass migration to Europe became a channel for the transfer of terrorists.

The US also stresses that Europe must immediately significantly increase its counterterrorism efforts in order to "halt its willful decline."

New criticism toward Europe appeared just a few months after Trump's new national security strategy stated that the continent faces "civilizational erasure" because of immigration.

Counterterrorism coordinator Sebastian Gorka said administration representatives will meet with allies later this week to discuss how they can strengthen their counterterrorism strategies.

Migration in Europe

The European Commission is calling for tougher EU deportation rules despite the fact that the number of those returning to their homeland has already significantly increased in recent years.

Migration in Europe had declined — the number of new asylum applications fell by 18%. Experts link this to tougher policies and changes in the countries of origin of migrants.

At the same time, the number of people willing to move to the US for permanent residence is steadily decreasing despite the fact that the United States has the status of the most popular destination for comfortable living.
