Trichologist reveals 3 basic rules for safe hair care
Hair care is crucial for maintaining healthy locks. Proper habits, along with tools and products tailored to your hair type, help preserve its beauty, according to Ukrainian trichologist Yulia Dudii.
Hair care rules
According to the expert, there are some lesser-known tips, including three basic rules:
-
If your scalp is oily but your hair is dry and porous, use two shampoos for washing. Use one with strong cleansing properties for the first wash and another moisturizing or smoothing one for the second wash.
-
If your hair is porous and you want it to appear smooth and sleek, no care routine will achieve the desired effect without blow-drying with a brush.
-
Ultraviolet rays cause photo-aging of the scalp and trigger thinning and weakening of the hair. Therefore, shading and wearing a hat should be a priority.
Common mistakes when washing your hair
Insufficien lathering
The trichologist noted that insufficient lathering of the scalp with shampoo and not allowing enough time for the active ingredients to work can be harmful.
Neglecting peels
Failing to use scrubs and peels for additional cleansing or exfoliation of the scalp can cause significant damage. It’s important to choose and apply hair care products correctly and thoroughly.
Avoiding conditioners
Not using conditioner after shampooing leads to excessive dryness and brittleness of the hair.
Not using leave-in products
Failing to use leave-in products after washing can result in scalp irritation and excessive dryness of the hair.
Not drying hair with a blow dryer
Many people avoid using a blow dryer, thinking it's harmful. However, the habit of leaving hair wet for long periods can be even more damaging, as it leads to increased dryness of the strands.
