Trial for suspect in second Trump assassination attempt postponed until September 2025
The court hearing regarding the suspect in the second attempt on Donald Trump's life has been postponed until September 2025. This concerns the attempt on the life of the then-presidential candidate near a Republican golf course in Florida this September, reports Reuters.
It has been noted that the court was asked to postpone the scheduled hearing regarding the case of the 58-year-old suspect, Ryan Routh, to February 10, 2025, due to the large volume of evidence in the case.
In turn, the defense lawyers requested a delay of the case until December of next year.
Florida-based U.S. District Judge Aileen Cannon agreed to the delay but described the defense's request for a one-year postponement as excessive.
Therefore, the judge set the trial date for September 8, 2025.
It is also noted that Judge Cannon previously presided over the closed criminal case accusing Trump of illegally storing classified documents after his first presidential term.
