On Sunday, May 25, a train exploded in Russia's Belgorod region after hitting an explosive device, Belgorod Governor Vyacheslav Gladkov informs.

"An emergency in the Novooskolsky district. According to preliminary information, a railway train hit an explosive device planted under the tracks. As a result, an explosion occurred. There are no casualties," the publication says.

Gladkov added that the incident damaged the railway's overhead contact line. Train traffic has been temporarily suspended.

"All emergency services are working at the scene. Information is being clarified," he added.

According to the Telegram channel SHOT, the incident happened just after 6 PM local time. The explosion caused a power line support to collapse, which damaged the railway's contact network. Footage from the scene is being shared on social media.

A few weeks ago, Gladkov said residents of the Belgorod region deliberately leave their old cars on the streets. They hope drones will damage the vehicles so they can receive compensation.

"Relatives' conversations: 'Our settlement is being attacked, let's roll the car out of the garage, maybe it will get shot at – at least we'll get money. The car is old, it can't be sold or used for anything,'" Gladkov shared.
