Ukrainian intelligence has obtained classified Russian documents indicating that the irrecoverable losses of the Russian army have exceeded 1.3 million people. At the same time, the share of those killed within the structure of losses has increased significantly, states President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, following a report by the head of the Defense Intelligence of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine, Oleh Ivashchenko.

Record Russian losses

According to internal official Russian reports obtained by the Defense Intelligence of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine, the aggressor’s irrecoverable losses (killed and severely wounded) amount to 1.315 million people.

"We have grounds to believe that data on this level of losses is understated," said President Volodymyr Zelenskyy.

Particular attention in the report was paid to the change in the ratio between those killed and wounded. Currently, out of 100% of Russian losses, 62% are killed, and only 38% are wounded.

Kremlin’s focus on the Middle East

According to intelligence, Russia plans to take advantage of the escalation around Iran and the potential prolongation of the US military operation in the region. The Kremlin expects that a war in the Middle East will divert global attention from Ukraine.

Russia’s main current objectives are:

  • Lifting sanctions and fully removing restrictions on energy resources;

  • Gaining windfall profits through fluctuations in oil and gas prices;

  • Strengthening military cooperation with North Korea.

Volodymyr Zelenskyy has instructed intelligence services to step up monitoring of Russian military production.

"We must continue to limit the potential of Russian aggression, despite the geopolitical challenges in the world," the president said.

Earlier reports indicated that the largest number of Russian forces since the start of the war are currently in Ukrainian captivity.
