Top Iranian naval commander killed in southern port city strike

Admiral Alireza Tangsiri, who commanded the naval forces of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps, was killed in an airstrike in the Iranian city of Bandar Abbas, Times of Israel reports, citing an Israeli official.

According to the official, the strike was carried out on Bandar Abbas, a port city in southern Iran that faces the Strait of Hormuz.
Neither Iran nor the Israeli military has officially confirmed or commented on this information.
Who is Tangsiri
Alireza Tangsiri headed the naval forces of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps. According to the Israeli official, he was responsible for blocking the Strait of Hormuz, one of the most important sea routes in the world, through which a significant part of the global oil supply passes.
Earlier, Iran had stated its intention to block another important strait. It may also blow up an entire island and sacrifice its own resources to eliminate American soldiers.
Meanwhile, Iran has begun charging fees for the passage of ships through the Strait of Hormuz. One vessel may pay up to 2 million dollars for safe passage.
