The time has come for the EU to start developing programs to bring Ukrainians home. However, the necessary conditions must be created in Ukraine, states Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha.

According to Sybiha, the ministry is already working with European partners to create the right conditions for the return of Ukrainians who left abroad as a result of Russia's full-scale invasion.

“It is time to raise the issue of the European Union developing programs for the return of Ukrainians. Of course, appropriate conditions must be created for this. From security conditions, medical services, and housing reconstruction. This should be on the agenda,” the Foreign Minister emphasized.

He also added that the ministry continues to work actively with the European Commission to develop initiatives that will encourage Ukrainians to return home.

According to Sybiha, such initiatives should primarily create positive motivation for Ukrainians currently abroad to make a balanced choice in favor of returning.

Ministry of Return of Ukrainians

Not long ago, the head of the President's faction, Davyd Arakhamia, announced plans to create a “Ministry of Ukrainians Return” in Ukraine.

Discussions are currently underway as to who could head this body.

The idea of creating such an agency was voiced by Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy back in August. However, at the time, Zelenskyy called it the “Ministry of Unity.”

According to the president, the main goal of this agency is to unite Ukrainians living abroad and counteract the influence of Russian propaganda.
