Time has not yet come: Gen Milley reveals what determines the end of war in Ukraine
The war in Ukraine will not end until "one or the other side achieves its goals" militarily or a decision is made to engage in negotiations. However, at the moment, "that time has not yet come," according to the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff of the United States General Mark Milley, CBS News reports.
According to him, neither side has currently achieved its political goals through military means, and the war will continue until one side or the other achieves these goals or until both sides decide that it is time to sit down at the negotiating table because they cannot achieve their goals through military means.
"And that time has not yet come," Milley concluded.
There is a clear position in Ukraine on the conditions for ending the war in Ukraine. In particular, according to the head of the Defense Intelligence Kyrylo Budanov, the war in Ukraine will only end with the return to the borders of 1991. If Crimea or Donbas are not returned, the war will continue until all these territories come back under Ukrainian control. Earlier, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy set a condition for negotiations with Russia - Ukrainian Armed Forces on the borders of 1991.
However, Budanov's forecasts are far from optimistic. He recently expressed the opinion that even after Ukraine's victory in the war, Russia will seek revenge. Ukraine has a minimum of 10 years to prepare, as this is the time needed for the Kremlin to recover militarily.
