Three police officers were killed while carrying out a combat mission in the Donetsk region, the National Police of Ukraine reports.

The lives of the fighters from the special-purpose police battalion (rifle unit) of the Main Directorate of the National Police in the Donetsk region were cut short on August 11 due to an airstrike.

During the combat mission, the following officers were killed:

  • Police Captain Oleh Babichev, call sign Lego - a native of Kostiantynivka, he worked as a senior investigator in the local police department and had recently joined the rifle battalion.
  • Police Major Dmytro Havryk, call sign Hryf, from Sloviansk. He was 33 years old. Before becoming a soldier, he served as a community police officer in the Kramatorsk District Police Department.
  • Police Captain Roman Khomaiko, call sign Khamer - born in Yenakiieve, currently occupied by Russian forces. Before joining the rifle battalion, he served as a senior operative in the criminal police department of the Bakhmut District Police Department. The officer was 36 years old.

Police officers were recently hit near Kherson. They arrived at the site of a bus attack and, during a subsequent strike, were trying to recover the bodies of the deceased from the vehicle. As a result, three police officers suffered concussions.

In addition, during the massive attack on Kyiv on the 31st, some of the injured were law enforcement officers. Three police officers who were responding to a call were among those wounded.
