Russia has increased its forces on the Pokrovsk front, deploying 150,000 “special operation troops” and reportedly using a “single working tactic.” Assaults have also been reported in Myrnohrad, according to Roman Pysarenko, head of communications for the 79th Air Assault Brigade.

Roman Pysarenko, head of communications for the 79th Air Assault Brigade, stated that active fighting is currently taking place over the northern part of Pokrovsk. Russia has significantly increased the use of small assault groups, which has proven to be their most effective tactic, as all other attempts at a breakthrough have failed.

"Yes, this tactic is exhausting for the enemy, and they suffer heavy losses, but they cannot advance any other way… large equipment is exposed and destroyed on the outskirts. We have already destroyed long-range artillery, such as D-20 and D-30 howitzers, multiple rocket launchers, and BM-21 ‘Grad’ systems. So the tactic of small infantry assault groups is indeed working right now," Pysarenko said.

He emphasized that although this tactic is slow and taxing and results in significant losses for the enemy, the number of Russian troops on the Pokrovsk front remains considerable. "As I said earlier, there are 150,000 of them here," Pysarenko added.

Situation on Pokrovsk front

Ukrainian forces stopped a large-scale attempt by Russian mobile groups to break through on the Pokrovsk front. Fierce fighting lasted for two days, and the Russia was defeated.

Russian forces carried out a mechanized assault on the village of Hryshyne on the Pokrovsk front. Ukrainian defenders repelled the attack, destroying part of Russia’s armored vehicles and personnel, although clashes continued in the area.

Last month, Ukrainian Armed Forces Commander-in-Chief Oleksandr Syrskyi noted that Russia is concentrating reserves near Pokrovsk and attempting breakthroughs using small groups.
