The White House about preparations for training Ukrainian pilots on F-16
Currently, the United States of America, in collaboration with European allies, is working to ensure that training of Ukrainian pilots on F-16 fighter jets begins as soon as possible, said the White House's Coordinator for Strategic Communications, John Kirby, during a briefing.
Although Kirby revealed that there is currently no new information regarding the training of Ukrainian pilots.
"Coming out of Vilnius (NATO summit) and the G7, the President made a strong commitment that we do support eventual F-16 delivery to Ukraine. And you got to start with training, and we have been working with our European allies in particular to see if we can get that training going as soon as possible," remarked the White House representative.
Training of Ukrainian pilots on F-16 fighter jets
Allied nations have collectively decided to train Ukrainian pilots on F-16 fighter jets. This decision followed the approval of the initiative by U.S. President Joe Biden.
President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelenskyy, had said that the training of Ukrainian Armed Forces personnel on American F-16 fighter jets will commence as early as August.
Politico recently reported that the first group of Ukrainian pilots set to participate in training on American F-16 fighter jets has been identified. According to the report, 8 Ukrainian pilots who are proficient in English are ready to begin training on F-16s.
