Thailand says Cambodia broke ceasefire agreement

The Thai army has accused Cambodian troops of violating the ceasefire agreement reached between the two countries on Monday, July 28, according to Bloomberg.
Military clashes with Cambodia continued into the morning of Tuesday, July 29, despite the unconditional ceasefire that came into effect at midnight.
According to Royal Thai Army spokesperson Winthai Suvaree, there were reports of attacks from several locations after the ceasefire began.
He accused Cambodia of provoking the incidents. According to him, the country deliberately violated the agreement and intentionally undermined mutual trust.
Winthai stated that Thailand was forced to take appropriate countermeasures within its legal right to self-defense.
He also noted that a joint meeting of the army commanders responsible for the Cambodian and Thai border areas was rescheduled from 7:00 to 10:00 a.m.
As of the time of publication, Cambodia had not officially commented on the situation.
Thailand-Cambodia military escalation
On July 24, a shooting occurred on the border, resulting in the deaths of soldiers from both countries.
Amid the escalating conflict, the Thai army deployed troops to the border and launched strikes on Cambodian military facilities.
Additionally, Thai forces managed to halt a Cambodian breakthrough attempt in the Trat Province area.
On Monday, July 28, the two countries agreed to a ceasefire during a meeting in Malaysia.
This agreement followed a warning from US President Donald Trump, who threatened to impose higher tariffs on imports from both nations.
Both sides continue to accuse each other of provoking the hostilities, which have claimed at least 38 lives.
