On Thursday morning, February 22, an unknown assailant opened fire on Route 1 near Jerusalem. One to three individuals were reportedly killed, with ten injured, and three terrorists shot dead, citing

"Three terrorists arrived by car, got out, and started shooting with automatic weapons at vehicles stuck in traffic heading towards Jerusalem on Route 1," the report says.

Two terrorists were shot dead at the scene of the attack, and shortly after, a third who attempted to flee was found and killed.

"The terrorists on Route 1 were armed with two M-16 automatic rifles, a Carl Gustav submachine gun, and another pistol. One of them also had a gas grenade," journalists add.

A man of about 20 years of age was killed in the attack, with ten others injured, including a 23-year-old woman in critical condition. There are discrepancies in the reported number of casualties. Social media reports suggest three fatalities.

Terrorist attacks in Israel

Terrorist attacks have become a common occurrence in Israel. In November of last year alone, there were five attacks on Israelis.

On the morning of November 30, 2023, unknown assailants carried out a shooting near a bus stop located near the city entrance to Jerusalem, with reports of eight wounded and one fatality.

Moreover, on November 16, 2023, on Route 60, south of Jerusalem, three terrorists attacked people. They were neutralized, but five individuals were wounded. On November 6, a terrorist attack occurred near the Old City of Jerusalem. A 20-year-old police sergeant was killed, and another police officer was lightly wounded. The terrorist was shot dead.
