Terrorist attack in village council in Zakarpattia: Number of victims risen to 2 people
The death toll from the grenade blast in the Keretskivska village council on December 15 has risen to two, with another victim succumbing to injuries in the hospital, according to the Prosecutor General's Office
According to the Prosecutor's Office, on January 15, 2024, another victim succumbed to injuries sustained in the explosion in the intensive care unit.
The deceased, a 47-year-old individual, was a deputy of the village council. He served as the head of the ASC (Administrative Service Center) in the Keretskivska AH (Amalgamated Hromada).
Another person lost their life the day following the incident. Medical professionals confirmed the death of a deputy who had been hospitalized after the incident.
Grenade explosion in the village council in Zakarpattia
On December 15, during a session of the Keretskivska village council, a deputy detonated three grenades inside the building. The explosions left 23 individuals injured, including the suspect. Among the victims were 16 men and 7 women, aged between 28 and 68. They suffered injuries of varying severity, with the majority diagnosed with shrapnel wounds.
On December 16, it was reported that one of the injured individuals had succumbed to their injuries in the hospital.
Interior Minister Ihor Klymenko stated that the deputy had been preparing for the act of terrorism in advance, and law enforcement authorities have reportedly found corresponding evidence.
On December 17, preventive measures were taken against the deputy, Serhiy Batrin, who detonated the grenades in the Keretskivska village council building.
