Tavria front update: Near 500 Russians and 68 equipment units destroyed
Ukrainian troops eliminated almost 500 Russian occupants in the Tavria direction over the last day. The Ukrainian Armed Forces also destroyed 68 pieces of enemy military equipment, according to the Joint Press Center of the Tavria Defense Forces.
The enemy carried out 14 air strikes, and 47 combat engagements and fired 1008 artillery rounds in the Tavria direction.
The threat of the enemy using missile weapons and unmanned aerial vehicles against military and civilian infrastructure remains high.
In the area of responsibility of the Tavria Operational Strategic Group of troops in the Avdiivka direction, Ukrainian defenders continue to hold back the enemy, who keeps trying to encircle Avdiivka. Our soldiers steadfastly hold the line, inflicting significant losses on the invaders.
Thus, the Ukrainian Defense Forces repelled 16 attacks near Novobakhmutivka, Stepove, and Avdiivka and another 16 attacks in the areas of Pervomaiske and Nevelske in the Donetsk region over the past day.
In the Maryinka direction, the Ukrainian Armed Forces continue to hold back the enemy near Maryinka and Novomykhailivka in the Donetsk region, where they repelled 7 attacks.
In the Shakhtarsk direction, the occupiers did not conduct offensive (assault) actions.
In the Zaporizhzhia direction, the Ukrainian Defense Forces repelled 8 enemy attacks near Robotyne and northwest of Verbove in the Zaporizhzhia region.
Russian losses
The total losses of the Russian army amounted to 470 occupiers.
Ukrainian troops also destroyed 68 units of enemy military equipment, including:
- 7 tanks;
- 11 armored personnel carriers;
- 14 artillery systems;
- 20 UAVS;
- 14 vehicles;
- 2 units of special equipment.
In addition, one Russian ammunition depot was destroyed.
The situation at the frontline
According to the General Staff, Ukrainian soldiers repelled 32 enemy attacks in the Avdiivka direction and continue to expand their foothold in the Kherson direction. Ukrainian Air Force destroyed 4 Russian artillery units.
Russia's losses in the war against Ukraine as of Friday morning, January 5, amounted to 790 occupiers, bringing the total number of Russian army losses since the beginning of the invasion to 36,070. In addition, the Ukrainian Armed Forces destroyed 18 drones, 30 artillery systems, and 40 vehicles.
