Tavria front update: Equipment and over 400 Russians destroyed
Over the past day, Ukrainian defenders eliminated over 400 more Russian occupiers in the Tavria direction. The Ukrainian Armed Forces also destroyed 28 units of enemy military equipment, according to the Joint Press Center of the Tavria Defense Forces.
In total, the enemy carried out 331 air strikes in the Tavria direction, conducted 25 combat engagements, and fired 617 artillery rounds.
The threat of the enemy using missile weapons and unmanned aerial vehicles against military and civilian infrastructure remains high.
In the area of responsibility of the Tavria Operational Strategic Group of troops in the Avdiivka direction, Ukrainian defenders continue to hold back the enemy, who keeps trying to encircle Avdiivka. Our soldiers are steadfastly holding the line, inflicting significant losses on the invaders.
Thus, the Ukrainian Defense Forces repelled 6 enemy attacks near Novobakhmutivka and Avdiivka and another 15 attacks near Pervomaiske and Nevelske in the Donetsk region over the past day.
In the Maryinka direction, the Ukrainian Armed Forces continue to hold back the enemy in the areas of Maryinka and Novomykhailivka in the Donetsk region, where they repelled 3 attacks.
In the Shakhtarsk direction, the occupiers did not conduct any offensive (assault) actions.
In the Zaporizhzhia direction, the Ukrainian Defense Forces repelled an enemy attack west of Verbove in the Zaporizhzhia region.
Enemy losses
The total losses of the Russian army amounted to 416 occupiers. About 10 occupants surrendered.
Ukrainian soldiers also destroyed 28 pieces of enemy military equipment, including:
- 5 armored personnel carriers;
- 6 artillery systems;
- 1 MLRS;
- 10 UAVs;
- 6 vehicles.
In addition, two Russian ammunition depots were destroyed.
The situation at the frontline
According to the General Staff, Ukrainian troops continue to expand their foothold in the Kherson sector and hold back the enemy in the Donetsk region. There were 35 combat engagements over the past day.
In particular, a report by the Institute for War Studies states that the Ukrainian Armed Forces continue to hold positions in the Krynky area on the eastern (left) bank of the Kherson region. The occupiers in the area complain about a large number of problems, including electronic warfare.
Russia's losses in the war against Ukraine as of Monday morning, January 8, amounted to 440 occupiers, bringing the total number of Russian army losses since the beginning of the invasion to 365170. In addition, the Armed Forces of Ukraine destroyed 11 drones, 13 artillery systems, 9 tanks, and 14 armored personnel carriers.
