Russia's losses in the war in Ukraine as of Monday morning, January 8, amounted to 440 occupiers, bringing the total casualties of the Russian army since the invasion began to 365,170 military personnel. Additionally, the Ukrainian Armed Forces destroyed 11 enemy drones, 13 artillery systems, and 9 tanks, as well as 14 armored vehicles, according to the General Staff of the Ukrainian Armed Forces.

The overall Russian combat losses from February 24, 2022 to January 8, 2024 are estimated as follows:

  • Personnel: about 365,170 (+440) individuals
  • Tanks: 6,031 (+9) units
  • Armored personnel vehicles (APV): 11,194 (+14) units
  • Artillery systems: 8,666 (+13) units
  • Multiple launch rocket systems (MLRS): 953 (+2) units
  • Anti-aircraft warfare systems: 638 (+1) units
  • Aircraft: 329 units
  • Helicopters: 324 units
  • UAV operational-tactical level: 6,822 (+11) units
  • Cruise missiles: 1,787 (+1) units
  • Warships/boats: 23 (+0) units

  • Vehicles and fuel tanks: 11,542 (+19) units

Frontline situation

According to the General Staff, Ukrainian forces continue efforts to expand their foothold on the Kherson front and restrain the enemy in Donetsk, with 35 combat engagements taking place over the past day. The Institute for the Study of War's report indicates that the Ukrainian Armed Forces maintain positions in the Krynky area on the eastern (left) bank of the Kherson region. Occupiers in this region complain about numerous issues, particularly with electronic warfare equipment.
