President Volodymyr Zelenskyy appointed Taras Kachka as Ukraine's representative to the European Union and the European Atomic Energy Community.

The corresponding decree was published on the president's official website.

"Appoint Taras Kachka as Ukraine's representative to the European Union and the European Atomic Energy Community," the document states.

Main priority

Taras Kachka expressed gratitude for the trust placed in him and the opportunity to continue working toward Ukraine's integration into the EU.

"It is therefore important that the integration of Ukraine's economy into the European market progresses alongside the negotiations, that trade between Ukraine and the EU operates without obstacles already now, and that Ukrainian institutions operate according to European rules. All of this is possible only with financial stability and security," Kachka said.

Ukraine's ambassador to the EU outlined his immediate priorities in the role:

  • Ensure that European financial assistance, particularly defense funding, reaches Ukraine on time.

  • Make Ukraine's defense industry part of the European market now.

"Upon arriving in Brussels, I will immediately focus on stable financial support for Ukraine in 2026–2027 and macro-financial assistance for subsequent periods," Kachka promised.

He identified the next step as working toward the successful integration of Ukrainian markets into the European market, including:

  • Defense

  • Metallurgy

  • Agriculture

  • Electricity

He added that establishing shared logistics connections and supply chains is also important.

Taras Kachka served as Ukraine's Deputy Prime Minister for European and Euro-Atlantic Integration from July 17, 2025, to July 14, 2026.

Earlier, National Security and Defense Council Secretary Ihor Klymenko became the new head of the Council of Experts on Energy Security, replacing former National Security and Defense Council Secretary Oleksandr Lytvynenko.

In addition, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy assigned the duties of Prosecutor General to Anton Kovalskyi, head of the Khmelnytskyi Regional Prosecutor's Office.
