Ukraine has launched joint work with European partners in Kyiv on security guarantees and approaches to a peace plan.

This was announced by Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council Rustem Umerov.

He said the meetings are attended by Chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Lieutenant General Andrii Hnatov, First Deputy Foreign Minister Serhii Kyslytsia, and Presidential Office adviser Oleksandr Bevz.

The first round of talks is focused on framework documents. In particular, discussions cover security guarantees for Ukraine, approaches to shaping a peace plan, and coordination of the sequence of further joint steps with partners. Umerov stressed that the work aims to develop solutions that are realistic and based on shared responsibility between Ukraine and its European allies.

According to RBC-Ukraine, the meeting brought together 18 representatives from European countries and NATO member states. It is also known that US President’s Special Envoy Steve Witkoff will join the economic session.

Later, US President's son-in-law Jared Kushner is expected to take part in other sessions.

Meeting of advisers from the US and Europe

At the end of the year, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said that Ukraine is preparing a meeting at the advisers’ level with the participation of the United States and European countries, which could take place as early as January. According to him, preparations began immediately after his conversation with US President Donald Trump and consultations with French President Emmanuel Macron and other partners.

It became known earlier that Poland will be represented at the meeting by Deputy Foreign Minister Robert Kupiecki.

In addition, a meeting of the leaders of the Coalition of the Willing is scheduled to take place in France on January 6, during which participants are expected to coordinate their contributions to security guarantees for Ukraine.

Today, national security advisers from European countries also arrived in Kyiv.
