Talks between representatives of Ukraine and the United States on advancing the peace plan are unfolding at a rapid pace and may extend beyond the standard workweek, reflecting the speed and intensity of the political discussions, according to Axios.

A second round of discussions on the US peace plan is underway in Miami, with negotiators from Ukraine and the United States taking part.

The process is developing amid expectations of new clarifications following Washington’s contacts with Moscow, as well as continuing disagreements on key issues.

Talks in Miami

US and Ukrainian representatives are holding a second day of discussions, and the Ukrainian side confirms that the meetings will continue on Saturday.

Despite major differences between Kyiv and Moscow, US officials believe that the possibility of a compromise still exists, even on issues related to territory.

Context of recent meetings

The Miami round follows a five-hour meeting on Tuesday between Steve Witkoff, Jared Kushner, and the Russian president.

President Trump said the talks in Moscow were "excellent," adding that his envoys returned with a sense that the Kremlin is ready to look for an agreement.

However, neither side has disclosed details so far, and no public breakthroughs have been announced.

Participants in negotiations

The Ukrainian delegation is led by Rustem Umerov and the Chief of the General Staff, Andrii Ihnatov. Their meetings with US representatives began on Thursday evening and continued on Friday morning.

According to a source, Witkoff and Kushner presented the Ukrainian side with a detailed account of their contacts in the Kremlin, including ideas intended to help bridge remaining differences.

A US official told Axios that the discussions had been "positive" and noted that they would likely continue over the weekend.

US President Donald Trump said that his envoys, Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner, held productive talks with Vladimir Putin in Moscow, calling the meeting successful and saying it left the delegation with a positive impression.

NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte said at a press conference that not every statement by Vladimir Putin or his inner circle merits a reaction, commenting on Dmitry Peskov’s remark about Russia’s desire to achieve its military goals through negotiations.
