Taiwan allocates $1 million to help Ukrainian refugees in Poland
Taiwan will donate $1 million to establish a fund for Ukraine in Poland, states the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Taiwan.
The fund will finance projects aimed at helping Ukrainian refugees in Poland. These projects will include strengthening the local integration of the Ukrainian people, improving the education of children and youth, and planning for the future.
Convenient conditions are provided for refugees from Ukraine who wish to return home. All applications must be reviewed by a selection committee and approved to receive merit-based subsidies.
"Since Russia started the war with Ukraine, Poland has taken in the most refugees. The world admires the way Poles have welcomed Ukrainians who were forced to leave their homes. Taiwan also faces the threat of an authoritarian regime and supports democracy by assisting Poland in providing humanitarian aid to Ukrainian refugees," said Ambassador of Taiwan to Poland Wu Shan-yen.
The Ambassador added that the establishment of the Taiwan Foundation in cooperation with the Alliance of the Polish Metropolis demonstrates Taiwan's commitment to democracy. The Foundation will work with local authorities in Poland and other partners to protect democracy, freedom and human rights.
