Türkiye has supported the proposal for a ceasefire between Russia and Ukraine. The country is ready to take on the role of monitoring the ceasefire if an agreement is reached, informs Anadolu Ajansı.

The Turkish Foreign Minister participated in an online Coalition of the Willing meeting regarding Ukraine.

According to information obtained from sources within Türkiye’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Fidan represented Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan at the meeting.

In his remarks, the Turkish minister reaffirmed Türkiye's strong commitment to Ukraine's territorial integrity and sovereignty. He also emphasized Türkiye's support for an unconditional ceasefire and the efforts aimed at achieving it.

Fidan further stated that Türkiye stands ready to take on the role of monitoring compliance with the ceasefire, should it be implemented.

Ceasefire to begin on Monday, May 12

Today, May 10, the leaders of the Coalition of the Willing arrived in Kyiv to discuss the next steps. After their meeting, a phone call was made to US President Donald Trump.

As a result of these talks, Russia was given a clear deadline to agree to a ceasefire by Monday.

Media outlets learned the details of a document in which Ukraine, the US, and the EU outlined a list of conditions for Russian President Vladimir Putin.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has confirmed that the ceasefire regime is set to begin on May 12. He also noted that Russia would bear responsibility for rejecting this condition.

RBC-Ukraine reported that the president discussed what awaits Russia if it rejects the unconditional ceasefire.
