Türkiye could host a meeting between US President Donald Trump and Russian President Vladimir Putin if it cannot be arranged in Budapest, stated Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, according to Hürriyet.

"We are ready to host such a meeting (between Trump and Putin - ed.) at any moment. It's a pity that the meeting in Budapest did not take place. We believe that any dialogue is useful for ending this war," Erdoğan said.

He added that Türkiye has supported dialogue from the very beginning and has spoken about the possibility of a just peace. According to Erdoğan, Ankara maintains good relations with both Kyiv and Moscow and has earned the trust of both warring sides.

"This gives us an advantage on the path to peace, and we intend to use this situation for the benefit of humanity," the Turkish leader said.

Trump-Putin meeting was postponed

US President Donald Trump and Russian President Vladimir Putin want to hold a new meeting to discuss ways to end Russia's war against Ukraine. The meeting was planned to take place in Budapest.

The American leader hoped to organize a meeting between US and Russian delegations this week as part of preparations for the summit, but it did not happen.

However, on October 23, the US President announced that he had canceled the meeting with the Kremlin head, saying it would not have produced the desired results.

According to Trump, he always has good conversations with Putin, but they lead nowhere.

Meanwhile, White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt said the White House still does not rule out a Trump-Putin meeting, but a positive outcome is important.
