Türkiye hopes that Russia will respond constructively to ceasefire proposal – Erdoğan

Türkiye wants to see a constructive response from Russia to the US proposal for a 30-day ceasefire with Ukraine, states Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, according to Le Figaro.
Erdoğan emphasized that Türkiye considers Ukraine's agreement to a 30-day ceasefire with Russia a positive and important step.
"Now we hope that Russia will respond constructively," the Turkish president said at a joint press conference in Ankara with Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk.
US initiative
On March 11, the US proposed that Ukraine initiate a temporary truce with Russia, set to last 30 days. Ukrainian officials agreed to the initiative, but Russia's response remains unknown.
According to Bloomberg, Russian President Vladimir Putin may agree to the ceasefire but on the condition that arms supplies to Ukraine stop.
Meanwhile, US President Donald Trump stated that American officials have already headed to Russia to discuss the proposal.
If Russia refuses to accept the ceasefire, the US may pressure it with sanctions.
Notably, political analyst Volodymyr Fesenko previously told RBC-Ukraine's YouTube channel that there could be issues with enforcing a ceasefire on land.
