Syrian leader Ahmed al-Sharaa is set to visit the White House in November, marking the first visit of its kind in history, reports Axios journalist Barak Ravid.

Ravid wrote that US Special Envoy to Syria Tom Barrack confirmed the visit to him.

"Syrian President Ahmed al-Sharaa is planning to visit Washington on November 10 and is expected to meet President Trump at the White House," the post said.

He added that this will be the first visit by a Syrian leader to the White House. Syrian heads of state have never made such a trip before.

In October 2025, the US Senate voted to lift sanctions imposed on Syria under the Caesar Act. These measures had targeted the Damascus government by restricting financial and trade channels for Syrian state institutions and allied companies.

The move now opens the door for Syria to restore economic and diplomatic ties after years of isolation.

Earlier, at the end of June, Donald Trump signed an executive order ending the sanctions program against Syria to support the country's path toward stability and peace.
