Sweden will deliver $836 million in military aid to Ukraine. The package will include, in particular, Archer self-propelled artillery systems, said Swedish Defense Minister Pål Jonson.

"Today, Sweden presented UA support package 20, worth $836 million. It contains, among other things, 18 new Archer systems, an extension of Sweden's long-term military aid to Ukraine with $3.6 billion yearly 2026-2027, and $900 million in yearly civil funding 2026-2028," Jonson said.

He specified that as part of the package, Sweden will purchase 18 new Archer artillery systems along with an additional 155mm ammunition worth $327 million. This will bring Ukraine’s total number of such systems to 44. Ukrainian troops have already confirmed their effectiveness against Russian targets.

According to Jonson, Sweden will also invest $190 million in naval capabilities, including mobile coastal radar systems, new support vessels equipped with grenade launchers and drones, as well as upgrades for the 32 Combat Boat 90 craft with additional sensors, weapons, and radars.

The package further includes 500 motorcycles and equipment to support air bases, such as trucks and tractors, worth $12.7 million.

Donated Tridon Mk 2 air defense systems will be upgraded with radar sensors and control systems, along with programmable 40mm anti-aircraft ammunition.

Additionally, Sweden will provide $68 million in financial contributions to various capability coalitions.

"Additional secret systems and projects are also included, but their introduction will have to be saved for the battlefield. The Russian army can expect Swedish-Ukrainian surprises going forward. Sweden will continue to put hard pressure on Russia until they stop this war," Jonson said.

Archer self-propelled howitzer

The Archer 155mm self-propelled artillery system is a modern Swedish weapon developed by BAE Systems Bofors and introduced into service by Sweden in 2013. Built on a Volvo A30 wheeled chassis, it is designed to deliver highly mobile fire support.

Archer can open fire in less than 30 seconds after stopping and relocate just as quickly, significantly reducing vulnerability to counterattacks. Its firing range reaches up to 60 km, depending on the type of ammunition, while its automated loading system allows a sustained fire rate of up to 8 rounds per minute.

Earlier, Swedish Defense Minister Pål Jonson warned that Russia poses a war threat to all of Europe.
