Sweden reveals count of trained sappers for Ukraine's forces in 2023
Swedish instructors trained 48 Ukrainian Armed Forces sappers in 2023. These soldiers further train their comrades in service, according to Sveriges Radio.
"Those who get training then pass on the knowledge to others at home," the material states.
Instructors mention they will have to enter the field in Ukraine to search for landmines left by Russian forces.
A Swedish instructor mentions that the Ukrainian trainees understand the gravity of the task. According to him, they aim to return home whole and unharmed.
In total, Sweden successfully trained 48 sappers.
Sweden's assistance
Recently, Sweden announced providing Ukraine with a new aid package of 1.4 billion kronor ($133.5 million). The funds will support the country's population during the winter period.
Additionally, Ukraine and Sweden discussed collaboration in innovation and shared experiences gained during combat, as well as military assistance and defense topics in general.
Today, Sweden and Denmark agreed to further support Ukraine in the field of combat vehicles. Copenhagen and Stockholm agreed to transfer infantry fighting vehicles, CV90s, to Kyiv.
