The Prime Minister of Sweden, Ulf Kristersson, has raised the possibility of hosting nuclear weapons in the country in case of war, citing Expressen.

"In the event of war, it's an entirely different matter. If the worst happens, democratic countries in our part of the world, of course, must be able to defend themselves against countries that may threaten to use nuclear weapons," Kristersson said.

He added that "Sweden's entire NATO membership and all Swedish defense are aimed at preventing such a situation."

"If Ukraine were a NATO member, it wouldn't have come under attack from Russia," said the Prime Minister.

Russia's nuclear threats

The Russian Ministry of Defense has announced alleged preparations for exercises involving the use of nuclear weapons.

The US has already responded to Kremlin's threats. Specifically, the White House advised the Russian dictator to withdraw his troops from Ukraine if he fears Western military aid to Kyiv.

Meanwhile, analysts at ISW suggest that Moscow has often utilized such threats to compel the West to halt military assistance to Kyiv.

At the same time, the Lithuanian Foreign Minister Gabrielius Landsbergis believes that Putin is bluffing about using nuclear weapons.
