The announcement was accompanied by a short video that aired during a regular-season American football game.

In the video, the artist appeared on a beach, sitting astride American football goalposts, to the remix of his own hit "DtMF" from his latest album, which surpassed one billion streams on Spotify.

In his address, Bad Bunny, whose real name is Benito Martínez Ocasio, noted that what he feels goes beyond his abilities.

"It's for those who came before me and ran countless yards so I could come in and score a touchdown. This is for my people, my culture, and our history," the artist shared emotionally.

Thus, the 31-year-old Puerto Rican will succeed Kendrick Lamar, who headlined the Super Bowl 2025.

Billions of streams and records

Bad Bunny is one of the most listened-to non-English-speaking artists in history. He held the title of most popular performer on Spotify from 2020 to 2022. In 2025, he surpassed 100 billion streams, second only to Drake (114.5 billion) and Taylor Swift (104.3 billion), according to Billboard.

His sixth studio album, "DeBÍ TiRAR MáS FOTOS," released in January 2025, topped the charts and delivered new hits, including Callaita and Mia.

The performer recently completed a series of solo concerts, "No Me Quiero Ir De Aquí," in his homeland of Puerto Rico.

Starting in November 2025, he'll kick off a massive world tour that runs through July 2026, covering Latin America, Australia, and Europe.

Among the biggest stops is a two-day concert at the Paris arena La Défense on July 4 and 5, 2026.

At the same time, in the United States, Bad Bunny will only perform at the Super Bowl. According to him, this is due to the risk of the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) appearing near concert venues, which he recently explained in an interview with the British magazine iD.
