Explosions were heard at the Sudzha Gas Metering Station in the Kursk region (Russia) on the night of March 21. A powerful fire broke out at the site following the blasts, according to Russian media.

The Sudzha Gas Metering Station was struck, with reports of a massive fire following explosions.

Footage has spread across the internet showing, allegedly, the burning Sudzha GMS, seemingly after an attack.

Russian sources also claim that the pillar of fire resulting from the strikes on the facility can be seen along the border between the Kursk and Sumy regions.

The Sudzha Gas Metering Station is the facility through which Russia (operated by Gazprom) previously exported gas to Europe via Ukraine. It is, in fact, the only entry point into Ukraine's gas transportation system through which Russian gas is transited to Europe.

Ukraine ceased accepting Russian gas through its territory.

Additionally, following the start of the Ukrainian Defense Forces' operation in the Kursk region in August of the previous year, Russia lost control over this gas metering station.

The facility itself is located just a few hundred meters from the corresponding crossing point on the Russian-Ukrainian border.

Russian propagandist media outlet Mash and Baza claim that the attack on the Sudzha GMS was allegedly carried out by Ukraine.

However, there have been no official statements from the Russian side regarding the situation at the Sudzha GMS so far.
