'Stupid Russian terror': Zelenskyy reacts to airstrike on Dobropillia in Donetsk region

Today's Russian airstrike on Dobropillia in the Donetsk region is simply a horrific, stupid act of Russian terror. Russian attacks have no military purpose whatsoever, according to the evening address of Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy.
"Rescue operations are currently underway in Dobropillia, Donetsk region, after a Russian bomb struck directly in the city, hitting an ordinary store and regular market stalls. There is not yet exact information on the number of casualties from this strike. As of now, 11 people are reported wounded and two killed. My condolences to the families," Zelenskyy said.
He noted that all services are involved and will try to save as many people as possible.
"This is simply a horrific, stupid Russian terror. There is no military purpose in their strikes — only an attempt to take as many lives as possible. The whole of present-day Russia is defined by such vile attacks," the president emphasized.
Zelenskyy stressed that Ukraine will respond and work with partners to force Russia to end the war.
"And our own strength must also grow for this purpose. This is what we are focused on now," added the head of state.
Airstrike on Dobropillia
On the evening of Wednesday, July 16, the Russian army attacked the city of Dobropillia in the Donetsk region with an aerial bomb.
According to preliminary data, the strike resulted in 2 deaths and 21 wounded.
Currently, 30 commercial outlets, 6 apartment buildings, and 8 cars are reported damaged due to the attack.
People likely remain trapped under the rubble — the search for survivors is ongoing.
According to Dmitry Lubinets, Ukraine’s Ombudsman, the Russian forces attacked Dobropillia when most people were returning from work.
"The strike hit the area near the Avrora store. There are fatalities and many injured. Rescuers, medics, and military doctors are working — the local hospital cannot accept everyone," Lubinets added.
