Stunning show of support - French jets carve Ukraine's trident over Black Sea

French Mirage 2000 fighter jets conducted a demonstration flight over the Black Sea, according to the Ukrainian Air Force.
As noted by the Air Force, this flight's unique feature was its trajectory: the jets followed a route that symbolically depicted the trident, Ukraine's national emblem.
"This route was immediately noticed on publicly available flight tracking platforms, such as Flightradar24," the Air Force wrote.
"This gesture demonstrates support, solidarity, and strategic partnership with Ukraine. For Ukraine, this gesture carries more than symbolic significance. It illustrates international support and the readiness of our allies to act," the photo caption reads.
Mirages for Ukraine
Last year, French President Emmanuel Macron announced his intention to send Mirage 2000 fighter jets to Ukraine. Deliveries were initially expected to begin at the end of 2024.
However, on February 6 of this year, French Defense Minister Sébastien Lecornu confirmed the arrival of the first combat aircraft in Ukraine.
And on March 7, the Ukrainian Air Force reported that Mirage jets were used for the first time to defend Ukrainian airspace against Russian missiles and drones.
