Strike on Ryazan refinery knocks out more than 77% of its refining capacity

Ukrainian drones struck the largest crude oil processing units at Russia’s Ryazan Oil Refinery, according to Fire Point.
What was hit at the refinery
According to the company, FP-1 drones struck the rectification columns of the ELOU-AVT-6 unit. It is the refinery’s largest primary crude oil processing unit, with an annual capacity of 8.5 million metric tons.

The company also confirmed a strike on equipment belonging to the AVT-3 unit, which has an annual capacity of 3.1 million metric tons.
Overall, the affected units account for more than 77% of the Ryazan refinery’s total primary crude oil processing capacity.
The units were hit during an overnight drone attack that had already been reported. A fire broke out at the Ryazan refinery, while explosions were also heard in Rostov. Regional Governor Pavel Malkov confirmed a fire at one of the industrial facilities.
The Ryazan refinery is one of Russia’s largest oil refineries, processing around 17 million metric tons of crude oil each year.
The plant produces gasoline, diesel fuel, jet fuel and other petroleum products, including supplies for the Russian military. The refinery has repeatedly been targeted by Ukrainian drones. In late July, Ukraine’s Defense Forces struck the facility again, when fires broke out at the Ryazan refinery and a Wildberries warehouse.
