Stoltenberg: Ukraine has right to strike military targets in Russia
According to international law, Ukraine has the right to strike military targets in the Russian Federation for self-defense purposes, states NATO Secretary-General Jens Stoltenberg during a press conference with Finnish President Alexander Stubb.
Stoltenberg said it was Russia that invaded another country and grossly violated international law.
Ukraine, as the Secretary-General noted, has the right to self-defense, and its allies have the right to assist Kyiv in implementing its defense.
Stoltenberg added that Ukraine has the right to strike legitimate military targets outside its territory to defend itself.
Attacks on oil refineries in Russia
In recent weeks, Defense Forces have successfully targeted oil refineries in Russia. According to The Insider, as of mid-March 2024, there have been 15 drone attacks on 13 oil refineries in nine regions of Russia. It was also noted that these attacks could have disrupted over 15% of Russia's oil refining capacity.
As reported by Bloomberg, the Head of the Pentagon Lloyd Austin believes that attacks on oil refineries could have consequences for the global energy situation. He advised Ukraine to attack other targets.
