State of Georgia warns of Russia's attempt to interfere in US presidential election
A video has surfaced online in which a man purportedly from Haiti claims to have voted multiple times in the US presidential elections. Georgia Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger called it Russian disinformation, CNN reports.
In the video that emerged yesterday on the social media platform Twitter (X) and garnered over half a million views, a man claiming to be a Haitian immigrant alleged that he voted multiple times in the presidential elections for US Vice President Kamala Harris.
The original post containing the video has since been removed from the platform, but copies continue to circulate as evidence of alleged election fraud in the US.
"This is false, and is an example of targeted disinformation we’ve seen this election," Raffensperger commented on the video.
According to him, the video was "obviously fake" and intended to incite concern about an alleged illegitimate voting process in Georgia, and specialists are already investigating it.
"In the meantime, we ask Elon Musk and the leadership of other social media platforms to take this down. This is obviously fake and part of a disinformation effort. Likely it is a production of Russian troll farms," added the Secretary of State for Georgia.
